Discovery Barn Information
The 2010 Discovery Barn at the Walworth County Fair is designed to educate fairgoers on the animal agriculture industries that are exhibited at the fair. The Discovery Barn area is open and accessible to fairgoers during the entire time the fair is open. Six learn-stations are set up and run eight hours a day with the following experiences for fairgoers:
- Learning how a cow is milked and the feed intake required for a dairy animal to produce its milk
- Exploring egg quality through candling, and visual experimentation
- Learning how to ear notch and read ear notches and why it is done
- Learning how to tattoo a rabbit ear and why it is done
- Learning how to properly halter an animal and why we use halters
- Learning how and why we use ear tags for identification
