This contest is open to legal residents in the
states of Wisconsin and Illinois only and for ages ten to fifty. Contestants
must be this minimum age, and not more than the maximum age, at the time of
their Preliminary Round performance. All performers within a duo or trio, must
fall under the same criteria.

The Judges decisions are final. All Rounds will
have a minimum of three, industry professional judges. Contestants will be
judged on skill, technical ability, stage presence, audience appeal,
originality and overall performance.

Acts are required to keep their performance to
four minutes or less. An additional minute will be provided for set up time
prior to their performance. Acts running longer than four minutes are subject
to possible disqualification or point reduction. This will be at the judge’s
discretion. Please limit setup time to one minute.
4.
No more than three persons are allowed in an
act. Live accompanists are considered part of the act, but can be of any age.
Drums, amps, etc., are discouraged due to the one-minute setup time. No combos,
rock bands or similar musical groups permitted.
5.
Acts are asked not to dance onto the stage or
off the stage before introductions. After introductions, contestants may take
any position they wish to begin their performance.
6.
Vocalists
are strongly encouraged to practice their performance with the assistance of a
vocal coach and/or live accompaniment. Judges preference is a single
instrument, played by the vocalist. We do allow recorded accompaniment /
backing tracks, however, these recorded tracks must not include any recorded
backing vocals. This is not a karaoke contest. Any prerecorded track with
audible backing vocals, or lead vocals is not permitted.
7.
Contestants may appear only as one act in this
contest, including all Preliminary Rounds. This means you cannot perform with
any other act, if you’re already performing with/as another for this
competition.
8.
Professionals are NOT permitted to compete. This
includes Union musicians and anyone whose principle source of income is from
their live and/or recorded vocal performance. Compensation for performing at
weddings and other, occasional special events, etc., does not constitute
principle source of income.
9.
Acts will need to complete all requested
information on the WCF Idol Registration Form, with payment (in the form of
cash or check), and have it received at one the registration locations listed
below, during their normal business hours,
no later than 10 days before your
requested Preliminary Round date.

10. Please select which Preliminary Round you
would like to perform at. Spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis,
and limited to 20 performers at each. The Preliminary Round selection you make
is not guaranteed. If the Round you choose is filled, then you will be contacted
to selected another, based on the same limitations.
11. The manager of this competition, Chris
Buttleman from the Lake Geneva House of Music, will be contacting you prior to
your performance. If you are using a recorded backing track, you must have it to
the manager in advance, no later than 5 days before your scheduled performance.
